Indianapolis Child Care Curriculum - Brilliant Star Curriculum

Every child is as unique and special as a star shining in the night sky. And whatever a child’s age, learning style, background, or intelligence, she has an overwhelming need and desire to PLAY.

Indianapolis Child Care Curriculum: The Play School Approach

It’s through play that children make their first discoveries, create their first masterpieces, solve their first problems and develop their lifelong love of learning. Through guided play and free play, we want to stimulate your child’s physical, intellectual, social and emotional growth.

  • Physical—Our facilities feature age-appropriate outdoor playgrounds as well as indoor gymnasiums for all-weather play. Gross-motor skills are encouraged through a combination of structured activities and free-play time.
  • Intellectual—Classrooms are divided into learning centers filled with engaging, theme-based activities. Depending on your child’s age, centers may include art, blocks, dramatic play, home living, language, manipulatives, math and science, music and movement, sensory discovery, and more.
  • Social—While playing with one friend or several, children learn valuable social skills. Teachers are always close by to guide children in positive communication, sharing and problem solving.
  • Emotional—By fostering increased independence and mastery of self-help skills, children gain self confidence and self esteem that will serve them well throughout their education and lives.

The Role of Parents in Child Care Curriculum

Our creative and nurturing child care curriculum is deigned to meet many of a child's physical and developmental needs. But, it's through an ongoing partnership with parents and guardians that we ensure continuity and continued enrichment for your child. As part of our goal to build and sustain a strong relationship with your entire family, we encourage you to openly communicate with school directors, teachers and staff. At our Indianapolis child care centers, we want parents and guardians to:

  • Openly share and ask for information about their children.
  • Feel involved in the care of their children.
  • Learn about child development.
  • Gain access to community resources, if needed.
  • Know classroom themes and lesson plans.
  • Access directors and teachers with questions about a child’s day.
  • Receive daily, individualized reports for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
  • Stay informed through a monthly newsletter.
  • Request parent-teacher conferences as desired to discuss a child’s development, interests and achievements.
  • Call any time throughout the day to check on a child.
